Full color framed offset print measuring hand signed in permanent ink by Norman Rockwell, with all hanging hardware included. Frame measures 28.5" by 26" inches, with image measuring 18" by 19.5".
Just as Rockwell's people are often composites of features of different models, his architectural backgrounds are often combinations of different locales. In Walking to Church the distant church steeple belonged to Vermont's North Bennington Church. The storefront and brownstone came from Troy, New York. The patina of these older buildings provided the perfect contrast to set off the sparkle and newness of the young family's new Easter outfits. In the Post's caption for this picture, the editors claimed that Rockwell chose this smaller than usual canvas size to match Vermeer's painting, The Little Street.
