Brown and Bigelow commissioned Rockwell to produce numerous four season calendars. Two Old Men & Dog- No Swimming, used for the 1953 calendar, was a typical scene that strived to capture the essence of the season. It aimed “to convey something of feeling of the seasons by the poses.” The variety of poses used for the old men and dog allowed Rockwell to achieve specific moods. He captured the quiet and reflective nature of the seasons. –Norman Rockwell from Rockwell on RockwellThe purchase of any limited edition Norman Rockwell print is accompanied by an authenticity certificate signed by our museum director.
