Featured are 53 paintings and 4 sculptures, ranging widely in subject matter and style, by such artists as Marsden Hartley, Stuart Davis, Arthur Dove, and Max Weber, leaders of American modernism; Precisionists George Ault and Francis Criss; Social Realists Reginald Marsh and Raphael Soyer; the folk-art icon Grandma Moses; and of course, Norman Rockwell. Interpretive text for each object and reproductions of comparative works provide further insight into how these artists shaped modern art.
