    Details
Norman Rockwell's Walking to Church originally created for the April 4, 1953 Saturday Evening Post cover. Full color offset print measuring 19" by 25" inches, hand signed in permanent ink by Norman Rockwell.

Just as Rockwell's people are often composites of features of different models, his architectural backgrounds are often combinations of different locales. In Walking to Church the distant church steeple belonged to Vermont's North Bennington Church. The storefront and brownstone came from Troy, New York. The patina of these older buildings provided the perfect contrast to set off the sparkle and newness of the young family's new Easter outfits. In the Post's caption for this picture, the editors claimed that Rockwell chose this smaller than usual canvas size to match Vermeer's painting, The Little Street.

The purchase of any limited edition Norman Rockwell print is accompanied by an authenticity certificate signed by our museum director. Purchases come with museum membership and care and handling instructions for the print. Payments may be made through our interest free 10 month layaway plan. All limited edition signed print purchases contribute directly to the museum endowment. Please ask for more assistance.
