    Details
Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) John Kennedy, 1960 Cover illustration for The Saturday Evening Post (October 29, 1960) Media print lithography on paper

In October of 1976 Atelier Ettinger Inc. hand proofed and printed John Kennedy, an eleven-color lithograph. The edition, measuring 17 by 23 ¼ inches, consists of 320 impressions on papier d'Arches. 200 were numbered and 60 artist proofs were signed in pencil by Norman Rockwell. An additional 35 prints, pencil signed and designated with roman numerals, were reserved for the artist, and 25 deluxe edition prints were printed on Nacre (Japon) Paper.

In 1960 Rockwell painted the presidential candidates for The Saturday Evening Post. To prep for John F. Kennedy's portrait Rockwell photographed Kennedy at his Massachusetts home. John Kennedy showcases the president's deepest feelings and aspirations. Despite his status he remains human and capable of error.

Rockwell's portraiture is often recognized for his ability to portray the likeness of his subjects, and also their personalities. His works are not idealized; however they eloquently capture age, gender, and social class in a way that reveals the true identity of the individual. No emotion was too small for Rockwell to capture.

The purchase of any limited edition Norman Rockwell prints is accompanied by an Authenticity Certificate signed by our Museum Director, a complimentary one-year Museum family membership, and care and handling instructions for the print. Payment plans are available. All hand signed reproduction print purchases contribute directly to the Norman Rockwell Museum to preserve and present the art and legacy of Norman Rockwell.
