Norman Rockwell (1894-1978 Big Day, 1959 Advertisement illustration for Fidelity Bank, 1959 Media print lithography on paper

Originally created for a 1959 Fidelity Bank advertisement, Big Day was hand proofed and printed by Circle Gallery. The lithograph measures 29 by 20 inches, and the edition consists of 295 impressions. 200 were numbered and 60 artist proofs were signed in pencil by Norman Rockwell. An additional 35 prints were signed and designated with Roman numerals.

This print depicts a young boy with a graduation cap on. The print suggests that a family should start preparing for this child's graduation day early with Fidelity Bank. Rockwell's ability to move his viewer's emotions was prized not only by magazine art editors, but by advertisers as well. Like most Post cover artists, Rockwell painted advertisements for everything from Jell-O to insurance.

The purchase of any limited edition Norman Rockwell prints is accompanied by an Authenticity Certificate signed by our Museum Director, a complimentary one-year Museum family membership, and care and handling instructions for the print. Payment plans are available. All hand signed reproduction print purchases contribute directly to the Norman Rockwell Museum to preserve and present the art and legacy of Norman Rockwell.
