Details
Norman Rockwell's New Kids in the Neighborhood/Moving Day (Negro in the Suburbs) was originally created as a story illustration for Look Magazine, May 16, 1967.
Measuring 17.75 x 24.75 inches, this mounted print is personally signed by Rockwell in permanent ink in the lower right. Part of a unique selection of exclusive signed copies donated to Norman Rockwell Museum Store, this item was not created through established limited edition printmakers like Atelier Ettinger Inc. or Circle Gallery, but rather appears to be taken from an oversized book collection mounted on foam core board and has not been conserved, with slight wear on the bottom edge of the mount as pictured.
New Kids in the Neighborhood/Moving Day (Negro in the Suburbs) depicts the integration of Chicago's Park Forest suburban community. The children examine each other with curiosity and it appears likely that they will soon be friends. However, the face appearing from behind a window curtain make us wonder how the adults will react.
The purchase of any limited edition Norman Rockwell print is accompanied by an Authenticity Certificate signed by our Museum Director, a complimentary one-year Museum family membership, and care and handling instructions for the print. Payment plans are available. All hand signed reproduction print purchases contribute directly to the Norman Rockwell Museum to preserve and present the art and legacy of Norman Rockwell.
