Part of a unique selection of exclusive signed copies donated to Norman Rockwell Museum Store, this item was not created through established limited edition printmakers like Atelier Ettinger Inc. or Circle Gallery. Although the print is a magazine tear sheet on newsprint pulled directly from a first edition publication, the signature is original in permanent ink. However, the paper quality is thin with original text visible.
Norman Rockwell's 80 pencil drawings done for Massachusetts Life Insurance Company first appeared in a series of national consumer advertisements sponsored by the Company during the 1950s and early 1960s. Rockwell's appeal during his lifetime and beyond is derived from the familiar believable traits of each of the artist's characters and the nostalgic mood of their settings, as is evident in this work. In Rockwell's own words, "Without thinking too much about it in specific terms, I was showing the America I knew and observed to others who might not have noticed."
The purchase of this signed Norman Rockwell print is accompanied by an exclusive coupon code for two complimentary museum passes, as well as care and handling instructions. Payment plans are available. All signed print purchases contribute directly to the Norman Rockwell Museum to preserve and present the art and legacy of Norman Rockwell. Custom framing options available, additional charges for shipping and handling may apply. Please contact us for more information at 413.931.2237 or 800.742.9450. Or Email: MDuffy@nrm.org
