The print measures 18 X 14 inches and is hand signed by Norman Rockwell at the bottom in permanent marker. In 1924 Rockwell painted what was to become a half century of calendars for the Scouting Organization. The yearly calendar was published by Brown & Bigelow, one of the nation's largest calendar publishers and featured a Scouting theme. In the early years Rockwell donated his services partly in gratitude for the opportunity they had given him as a young illustrator and partly in support of the merits of Scouting. Today the Boys Scouts of America own a sizable portion of the fifty-two calendar scenes which Rockwell painted. Most of the pictures featured Scouts from Rockwell's hometowns notably, New Rochelle, Arlington, and Stockbridge, where even the troop numbers were recorded in accurate detail. The calendar series continued for fifty two years until 1976.
