Charwomen in the Theater is a depiction of two cleaning ladies in a movie theater. The ladies are sitting back taking a break from their duties, relaxing and reading over a playbill. Typical details include wrinkles in their aprons, a well-worn mop and a scattering of debris. The ladies modeling for Rockwell were his neighbors and apprehensive about posing as cleaning ladies. However, Rockwell convinced them they were only acting. The print is in excellent condition very detailed with vivid color and contrast. Charwomen in the Theater was used on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on April 6, 1946.
