This limited edition artist's proof offset lithograph by artist R.O. Blechman entitled New York City Skyline at Night measures 42" x 29" inches and is hand signed in ink by the artist. The illustration appeared as the cover of the October 1, 1979 issue of The New Yorker and depicts a black line drawing against a dark background of iconic New York City skyscrapers topped with colored lights.
R. O. Blechman has contributed 14 covers to The New Yorker, and remains an acclaimed illustrator, animator, and author. Elected to The New York Art Directors Hall of Fame, The Museum of Modern Art held a retrospective of his animated films in 2003. The National Cartoonists Society gave Blechman a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Two years later his work was given a retrospective exhibition R.O. Blechman: The Inquiring Line at The Norman Rockwell Museum.
