Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) Boy on Weathercock, 1934 Cover illustration for The Saturday Evening Post (October 20, 1934) Media print lithography on paper

Originally created for the October 20, 1934 cover of the Saturday Evening Post, Boy on Weathercock was hand proofed and printed by Atelier Ettinger. This full color lithograph measures 25 by 18.5 inches and the edition consists of 320 impressions. 200 were numbered and 60 artist proofs were signed in pencil by Norman Rockwell. 35 impressions were pencil signed and designated with Roman numerals, and an additional 25 were printed on Nacre (Japon) paper.

Norman Rockwell published over 300 original covers for the Saturday Evening Post from 1916 to 1963. This title evokes adventure and serenity while illustrating the feelings of the ocean without actually showing it. The boy has the perfect vantage point from the weathervane on the roof, and it is from this view that we get the beautiful scene of an ocean town that Rockwell has supplied.

The purchase of any limited edition Norman Rockwell prints is accompanied by an Authenticity Certificate signed by our Museum Director, a complimentary one-year Museum family membership, and care and handling instructions for the print. Payment plans are available. All hand signed reproduction print purchases contribute directly to the Norman Rockwell Museum to preserve and present the art and legacy of Norman Rockwell.
