Rockwell Painted the "Four Freedoms" series during the middle of World War II to emphasis the freedoms to which President Roosevelt refered in a 1941 speech. The United States government used these images to successfully bolster the sense of famliy and country during a dark period in the history of this country and the world. These four iconic paintings are in the collection of the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge MA.
